Further proof that it is always the Conservatives who can be trusted with the country's finances.
Figures from the Office of National Statistics (ONS) show that government borrowing has reached its lowest level in 17 years.
Tory Councillor Oliver Cooper rightly points out that: "the UK borrowed £24.7bn in the last year: £17bn less than the previous year and over £12bn less than was forecast by the OBR last spring".
"At 1.2% of GDP, the UK is now borrowing less than half the level Labour was borrowing in the five years BEFORE the crash."
In response to the figures, the Conservatives tweeted "Our balanced approach of getting debt down means we can spend more on our vital public services including our long-term plan for the NHS "
