CP Director Nabil Najjar was quoted in an article on BBC News focusing on how the Conservative is attempting to engage young voters and grassroots supporters. Conservative Progress was cited as a leading example of a genuinely grassroots campaign group.
Another group, formed last year, is Conservative Progress which also has the aim of becoming a real grassroots organisation. “We saw a genuine need within the Conservative family for a constructive dialogue between the grass roots and the parliamentary party,” says Nabil Najjar, one of the group’s co-founders. “We saw an opportunity there to take a leading role in training up-and-coming activists and providing a forum for Conservative Party volunteers to get involved in political discussions, to network and to try to develop a counter measure to all of the grassroots activity that Labour are currently involved in.”
